I am considering buying a small 150W heater that plugs into the 12V power point so I don't have to use the heater. As you know, it sucks range big time, 5+kW!! In this cold snap I am having trouble doing my 90km commute on a single charge. Yesterday I had to stop at a Ford dealer en route to charge up for half an hour.

Don,

Is that a one way commute? 90kM = 55 miles. One way would be a hike in this cold weather. The idea seems certainly worth trying and I would be interested in you results. My winter range has definently restricted the usage of this car. Several trips I regularly took in the summer are not possible in the winter.

The 150W heater was a bust. No nearly enough air flow to defog the windshield.

My commute is 44km each way. Currently I can't charge at work, so it is stretch.
