Check that the pump (pumps) is working.
There are only three of them.

ForScan clears the error. The error comes back after driving a few kilometers, sometimes during normal driving, sometimes as fast as possible or turning on the heating.
 
And if standing on the spot to turn on the stove to the maximum, an error will appear in a few minutes?

if we can determine the conditions under which the error appears, it will be clear which pump is not working
 
I turned on the HI / HI heating and waited for 10 minutes. Climate shows 5+ kW / Other 0.3kW, Trip 1 I used 1.5kW. Heating works ok. Do not show "See manual". What's next?
 
P0C4A:00 indicates the PCM is detecting a short to power, ground, or an open on the PWM output. The pump is controlled by a PWM signal giving it variable speed capability. This pump is for the battery coolant. It is located near the firewall on the left hand side of the motor. It is terminated at the PCM which is on the right hand side of the motor compartment, near the front. One of these might be loose, or have some contaminates inside. It could also be damaged wiring or a bad pump/pcm.

Check this pump, wire and plug.

What to fix?


I have code P0C4A:00-08 only and the dealer suggested that I pay for reprogramming of a bunch of module, which I declined. The car runs fine and the code wasn't present when the car is read so I think I'm okay. I tried to look at one value in PCM module using my ODBLink MX+, I think it's regarding the pump utilization and it was at constant 9% the whole time. I don't know how much it will go up when the temperature of the battery is hotter. It's been cold these days so I can't test that yet.
 
That pump circulates the coolant that heats the battery pack and takes the heat away from the charger. I would be curious to see what that pump does when you plug in and the battery heaters kick in.
 
Just want to say that when my battery temp was around 90F, the pump utilization went up to 36%. So I think it was trying to cool the battery down. I don't know what would happen when the battery is cold since the coldest around where I live is around 40F.
 
I fixed.
The error caused the valve to stop. I found in the ForScan option to turn on the pumps, or you can control the valves. This showed me that the battery circulation valve is not able to change position to anything other than just 45 ".

I took the valve out of the car, disassembled it and found the cause of the error.

Then cleaning, repair, lubrication, inspection, assembly and works. In the end, I have no problem with errors and this valve is better than the other two.

WOW great information! I didn't know you could manually move the valves with Forscan?!?! That's awesome, That means when you do a coolant change you don't need to go to the dealer to have them purge the air as you can do that manually with Forscan.

FYI most of the translated text made sense. The one thing I might change though is where you say, "I took the valve out of the car, undressed it and found the cause of the error." "undressed" usually refers to the removal of clothing. I think the proper verb here would be, "disassembled."
 
Sebus, I'm reading my Forscan for the pump valve command and pump valve measure (COOLVLV_A_CMD and COOLVLV_A_MES) and the command is 55 degrees but the measure is only 45 degrees. Is that normal?
 
Glad you got that cleared up Sebus.

Reading through this thread reminded me of a problem that Jaguars have. The Ford dual climate zone heater valve was underpowered by the body controller, but also, when coolants were mistakenly mixed, the coolants would coagulate, and effectively gum up the valve. Sometimes just adding tap water would start some gumminess. (The mistake I made)

So I was thinking that an improper mix of coolants might cause errors similar to those seen by Sebus.

Yes. This value is correct. The valve works to a smaller extent than the controller requires. The same with the charger, requires 360V and reaches 340V and in many other places.
