Well I thought it was a coin holder for tolls.
Not....
Quarter went way down, had a hard time getting it out.

Not for coins, I think its for holding a small plastic card like a credit card or electric charging station card (like Blink?)

If your Charge Point card is smaller than the size of a credit card, don't put it in there.
 
There's also a slot on the door inside the glove compartment. That's where I keep my BLINK card and mini Chargepoint card. There's also a nice pen holder.
