Hi everyone - east coast buyer here on verge of buying a new 2012 base-model for $26K.

Guess its been sitting on the lot for awhile but the battery (and entire car) will still have brand new warranty.

I could use the entire Fed credit and in my state no tax.

Is this a good deal?

I do about 22K/year on this so lease doesn't make sense to me.

That sounds almost too good to be true. Make sure it's never been registered and is legally brand new. If not, no $7500.

Consider leasing it anyway. You can always buy it out at the end, and if something goes wrong in the meanwhile you can bail out at the end of the lease. I did sort of the same, got a 18,500 mile/year lease.

If I were offered that deal and it was for real I'd take it in a second.

Thanks Michael.

I'll check on the never registered thing ...that's definitely major problem if I can't get the credit.

There is also a $4,000 instant rebate now for new FFE's. ...if that was spent and the tax rebate gone, that could explain it.
