Apparently the DeLorean is making a comeback with an all electric version of the car to be sold in 2013. The new DeLorean will take on the form of the legendary DMC-12 of the 1980s, but will be powered by an electric motor supplied by Epic-EV. It's expected produce around 260HP.

The DeLorean Motor Company of Texas already remanufactures and restores the DMC-12 to modern standards. Like the DMC Electric Vehicle, these are built on a newly designed stainless steel chassis, using a combination of new-old and reproduction parts.

Forgot to mention that no price has been announced, but it's probably well into the 6 figure range since original DeLoreans can still sell for upwards of $60,000.

Wow, that's quite a shocker - not to mention that they'll make it look something like the original? I guess that will make it stand out from the crowd, and seeing as the Tesla and Fisker are already small companies making great looking cars, they needed to do something different.

I think they could make a modern looking vehicle, and just make it out of stainless steel and everyone would still know it was a DeLorean!

Thanks for sharing the article with us people on the Ford Focus Electric Forum :D
