On a similar side note and on a related topic. Will residents of other states be able to buy a Ford Focus Electric car in lets say California and then register it in lets say Nevada? EVs have zero emissions, so are exempt from (meet) EPA emissions standards. NHTSA is a national safety standard. If the Up! complies with those standards, it can be sold in the US. The barrier to entry is Volkswagen. It is not considering the Up! or larger Polo for the US market.

Like the standard Up!, the five-door will stay in Europe.

Focus Electric can be licensed anywhere, but a change may effect buyers state and local incentives.
