The new 2015 Ford Edge, with concept already displayed earlier this year, has a production date of 3rd Qtr 2014.
The new platform, now shared with Fusion, is also expected to offer the same ICE, Hybrid and Energi drivetrains as the Fusion.
Unlike Ford's other SUVs like the next gen Explorer and Expedition, the new Edge does have to wait for the new RWD/AWD Hybrid drivetrain to be ready, before a hybrid option is available. Because it is essentially a taller version of a Fusion, or a Edge 'top hat' placed on top of the Fusion Energi platform.
The 2015 Edge Energi is also expected to offer 25 EV miles, like the upcoming Focus Energi.
And the great thing about Ford's battery management software, is that as Ford improves it's efficiency, current owners can get software updates to further extend their use of the battery pack. Which means current 21 EV mile Energi models, can move up to 25+ miles as improvements are made.
