Re: OEM Battery For Cheap? (In a relative way)

Something to keep in mind, though I wonder how likely it is to be inexplicably "out of stock" when you try to order it.

Re: CCS upgrade for older Focus

CCS plug is on it's way. Finally figured out why the CCS harness looks so weird in component views and diagrams - I thought they had spliced in an additional socket on the harness and in reality they took the end that was going to the TCM and routed it to the EVCC with a variant of the same connecto...

Re: Quick Charge Mod - CH4D3M0

At this point I have all components with the exception of the ADM3052 CAN Transceiver chips - but I just got confirmation they shipped out from Shenzhen. Not sure how long it will take them to get here but once they do, I can reflow the three SMD chips on the boards and then start hand soldering the...

Re: CCS upgrade for older Focus

At this point, the largest open questions relate to the specs of the CCS port. There are 2 thermistors (one under the AC plug and one under the DC plug), wires that control the lock actuator and wires that provide feedback on the lock state. At this point I don't know the specs on the latch hardware...

Re: CCS upgrade for older Focus

I've dug in a bit over the day and traced all the wiring inside this EVCC. One of the most interesting things is that it has a second CANBus interface on it that wires to the low voltage connectors but says it's "not used" in the vehicle wiring diagrams. It's possible this is a separate bu...

Re: CCS upgrade for older Focus

My module came in yesterday. The listing noted it as a DC/DC converter, though it is for certain that CCS interface module. For the sake of clarity, the manuals note it being "Generic Function Module 2" as there is another Generic Function Module that is tied to the charging port itself - ...

Re: VERY short trips bad?

It shouldn't. In fact the car won't try to recharge the battery unless it drops below some threshold - to prevent excess wear from brief cycles. Also, the excessive wear on an ICE from short cycling is mostly due to they delay in oil flow during startup, which isn't a factor for our motor or "t...

Re: Exhaustive quantitative Power and Energy values at speed

I know this is a REALLY old thread, but getting a copy of the service info for my car also got me a nice SVG cross sectional view of the car that I was able to use to make a new estimate of the area instead of taking 2.25m^2 as truth. I'll spare you the details, but I got a number far closer to 1.8m...

Re: Reminder of why EVs can be awesome to own

This reminded me to go on and finish that registration. It didn't have 5 year on the paper, but the online system offers it.

$158.83 for 5 years, but only $33 of that is the car part, the rest is my optional vanity plate...

Still waiting on a few parts but almost all of it is ready to solder.
