Re: Cooling System: On board charger

On some cars, the heater core can be difficult to burp. I've heard success from raising the front end of the car (or drive up on ramps). Though vacuum bleeding also helps. But yeah, the dealer would be best, since they can go through all the scan tool procedures that they likely didn't do. I'd also ...

Re: Cooling System: On board charger

I'll have to look into it more, but I bet it's just opening the coolant valves and kicking on the pumps. Also, regarding the filter. It's a small canister located just above the driver side half-shaft, where it enters the transmission.

Re: Cooling System: On board charger

After HV battery replacement, the coolant filter is supposed to be replaced, along with the cooling system fill and purge procedures (done by the scan tool). This activates the valves and pumps appropriately to purge the system of any trapped air. Not sure whether or not those functions are availabl...

Re: Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay on 2017 FFE

That describes my experience as well. It’s too bad that you lose the budget and other cluster navigation features. Another interesting, but probably not all the useful feature: When you enter a destination with the built in nav, then plug in your iPhone, Apple Maps takes over navigation to that same...

Re: 300 mile BEV SUV by 2020?

I think it's too soon for anything to be out there yet. Plus with the recent management shakeup, some directions/details could change. Though I'm sure nothing major regarding this vehicle. I'm in the same boat of excitement though. I leased my 2017 FFE for 4 years, so I knew that the 300 mile EV wou...

Re: using "L" to brake

Not sure what you're describing with your phone disconnecting from your car. It should only be connected to SYNC while you're in your car with the car one. When you restart it, it should reconnect if you've got it paired properly. Might want to delete the pairing of your phone in SYNC as well as you...

Re: using "L" to brake

Switching to L and lightly pressing the brake have similar effects. It will not hurt the car at all. The FFE only has one gear ratio. I prefer using light brake pedal over switching to L. You should try both and choose for yourself. Agreed. It just depends on my mood and the flow of traffic at the ...

Re: 2017 Focus Electric Reviews

Thanks very much cutler for your informative reply! I can't wait for the car. I have test driven a Bolt and was impressed, but I've got a Model 3 on order and will skip the Bolt and wait for the Tesla. Soon to be a 2 EV, EV-only household. I have solar panels too, so our carbon footprint is about t...

Re: can replace 23kw battery by new 33kw wiht same AC charge

I recall sharing that the retail price for the HV battery set (includes upper and lower packs) was in the $8K range (maybe in another thread). Apparently it was an issue with purchasing, cataloging or someone... The catalog has recently been corrected to the appropriate price. $22K now  Wond...

Re: 2017 Focus Electric Reviews

I answered your questions below in blue. Thanks cutler, How is the range for you? What area do you live in? How does temperature affect your range? I found with my 2013 here near Toronto my range was anywhere between 80 (heat on in cold winter with some highway driving) to about 140-150km in the sum...
