Re: Steering Issues with the 2014 Ford Focus Electric

Thanks for the reply Michael and Rogerschro. You both know your stuff because that was the first thing the service manager thought it might be - electrical steering problems - so he had the service technician who handles electrical issues drive the car with me. He was the one who said it wasn't the...

Re: How long does the screen stay on ?

Its part of an animation and there is a Ford logo in there but sometimes it doesn't show--almost like the MFT CPU isn't fast enough to show the animation. I see it sometimes and sometimes I just see white! I've only ever seen it show all white, but then I've only owned my car for a little over a we...

Re: How long does the screen stay on ?

A different, but related question about MFT -- Is it normal for the screen to illuminate all white when getting into the car (before you push the start button)? I keep expecting a Ford logo or something to pop up, but it's just a blank white screen until I start up the car, at which point MFT boots ...

Re: Cheaper to use ChargePoint than charge at home

On a related subject, the California PUC is doing a test among PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E that provided free charging units to those willing to test a submetering pilot program. I have paid for, and not yet received, my JuiceBox unit. This will be Wi-Fi enabled and allow the utility to separate the EV el...

Re: Cheaper to use ChargePoint than charge at home

Thanks for all the great responses. For the time being, I'm going to stay on the residential plan D and see how it goes. I often take a late lunch and so it's quite easy for me to plug my FFE into a ChargePoint station for a couple hours before heading home (for my 2 mile commute). I will also charg...

Re: Heater

What's the consensus in the forums about the seat heaters? Are they a less efficient way to warm up (from a battery use perspective) than just running heat through the climate control system? Put another way, do they deplete the battery as quickly as running the heater does? I'm thinking not, but I'...

Re: Cheaper to use ChargePoint than charge at home

Yes, our 'special' SCE rate system really discourages high consumption of any kind. The only good thing is that if you have Solar and Net Metering, they have to credit you at those rates on what you generate. With Time-Of-Use metering, that means I get credited the highest rate during the day and c...

Cheaper to use ChargePoint than charge at home

So I was quite surprised and disappointed to calculate that it is more affordable for me to charge at a Level 2 ChargePoint station at $1.25 per hour, than to charge at home under my Southern California Edison rate plan (or even their EV rate plans). Perhaps I only have myself to blame, since my hom...

So have you had your dealer look at it? Or are you just living with it?

Re: Steering Issues with the 2014 Ford Focus Electric

I drove my FFE on the highway again at high speeds (65 to 75mph) and there is definitely something wrong with either the alignment or the electric power steering. Another way of describing the issue, is that it's like the steering wheel doesn't have a natural tendency to go back to center. Every car...
