Re: 2018 FFE

Aside from the big announcement of the new colour (Outrageous Green) a couple of months ago, just this brochure. It appears that the only change from 2017 is the colour selection. http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/2018/2018_FocusElectric.pdf Looks like they are eliminat...

Re: End of lease? What are you doing?

Is it possible to extend a 3 year lease on a Ford FFE a few extra months?
Is that something a local Ford dealer can decide or is it Ford Credit that would do it if possible?

Re: '17 FFE Dead 12Volt battery

This is starting to seem a little ridiculous that after 5 model years of the FFE the same problem is plaguing the '17s as it did the '12s. I had to replace my 12v battery a few weeks ago. Although I think it was just a crap battery. It was barely a year old, but the battery had no labeling on it wh...

Re: '17 FFE Dead 12Volt battery

Actually I think that is a design flaw with all of the current Focus line as you can't open any of the hatchbacks with a dead battery--its just more prevalent on the FFE because of the 12V issues it has. I remember one of the early things I practiced to do on my FFE was how to access the area under...

Re: '17 FFE Dead 12Volt battery

I recommend using a cheap 12v battery maintainer device as well as keeping a good 12v battery charger in your garage for emergencies. I have those, plus also a portable 12v battery jumper device (uses a Lithium Ion battery) but haven't needed to use it since the only time I've experienced a few of t...

Re: 2017 FFE Newb charging questions

Yep 4-5 hours is about right for charging with 120V for 30Km which is about 18.6 miles. I get about 4-5 miles charge added per hour that way away from home, but at home I use my 240V/30A charging system to get a charge of 50-60miles in under 3 hours. Correct that value charging works only with a LII...

Re: What to use to clean cloth seats?

Try a Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser" or similar product - it worked for me on my 2014 FEE with cloth seats.

Re: Newbie electric driver budget/driving style question

To ensure the heater doesn't go on unexpectedly, I set the temp to LO.
Then with AC on, it will give out cool air and with AC off you get air at outside temp with the fan.

Re: Im adding another 12 volt battery post!

Yes try to get that TSB performed that should include a firmware update to fix the 12v battery issue. I had 12v battery issues for the first few months I had my 2014 FFE, but after the update I've never had any more 12v battery problems - for almost 2 years since then! Though I do have a 12v battery...

Re: Using an Extension Cord With The FFE

The reason manufacturers always say not to use an extension cord is because you are not supposed to do so. Article 625 of the NEC sets a maximum distance of 12" for the cord from the outlet to the EVSE protective equipment. Ah, it is a law. Interesting to see the source of the warning. I figured I'...
