Re: Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

Thanks for that correction, ElSupreme, about the LEAF and its batteries being built in Tennessee for the US market since 2013.

Re: Next car after Ford Focus Electric?

I've only had my FFE for two months, but I'm an avid follower of EV news and development so of course I'm looking toward the next car when my lease is up. In order of preference: 1. Focus Electric 2.0 2. Focus Energi Plug-In 1.0 3. GM Volt 2.0 4. Plug-In Prius 2.0 5. Tesla Model III I'm only going t...

Re: Hypothetical extended range idea.

It's not a "crazy" idea, only an impractical one because of the design and construction of the currently available EVs it could be used with. Realistically you're aiming at the Nissan Leaf fleet if you want to talk about broad adoption. As has been pointed out, you would need a sinewave AC generator...

Re: Finally able to check off my 20K maintenance on MFM webs

Chris is exactly right; the lease agreement specifies that you have to perform and keep a record of the maintenance schedule. It's obviously much more important on an ICE vehicle, but the language is still there for the Focus Electric. I admit I also want to see if they'll even notice that it's Elec...

Re: New Ford FFE Lease Incentive

Interesting ! The down payment recommendation also went down, from $2749 (which is still on the front splash section of the Focus Electric model webpage) to $1890 (5%). I know for sure I saw a $7000 purchase incentive on the national incentive website just a couple of days ago. The extra $1000 was a...

Re: Finally able to check off my 20K maintenance on MFM webs

The Ford Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system uses no hydraulic fluid and has no fluid reservoir. Because my FFE is leased, I plan to take it to the dealer once a year for a multi-point inspection and to get the steering joints greased and the tires rotated. Frankly, I'm looking forward to it.

Re: 2015 FFE interior color option? Reported "10 wheels?"

I like Performance Blue better than Candy Blue, and Magnetic Metallic is a lot like the Ashen Gray Metallic that Chevy offers on the Volt. And Ruby Red is just plain good looking. I wish they had some electric-only colors (like Citrus for the old Honda Insight !) or other ways to distinguish the ele...

Washington State taxes and fees

It's been a hassle getting my registration paperwork processed, but today I finally got license plates for my shiny new Focus Electric, exactly 4 weeks from when I picked it up. I wanted to share a couple of good things. Even though Washington State has not signed onto the same Battery-Electric Vehi...

Re: Charging from non dedicated outlet

I used my Kill-A-Watt to examine the Level 1 charging, so I can provide a datapoint. At 113V AC incoming, the FFE charged at 11.65 A from the wall. Unlike the Volt, there is no 8A / 12A configurable setting. I don't know J1772 well enough to know if that's a setting on the charger or in the car. I t...

Re: Inconsistent audio on restarting

Chris, thank you for that post (back in July !). I also was confused by the phone getting indexed and trying to play saved music via USB, so as soon as I read your post I went right out and looked for those settings. Settings -> Media Player -> AutoPlay (Off). That appears to prevent my phone from a...
