Re: PHEV + EV Household

Our garage and driveway is getting crowded. I just brought home a 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid company car. What a menagerie, Focus Electric, Fusion Energi, Fusion Hybrid, F-150, and my son's Focus SE coupe!

241 Wh/Mile average since late January with a month average high of 335 in January and a low of 222 in April. 241 Wh/Mile = 4.15 miles per kWh. As temperature is warming, we are seeing more drives in the low 200s, inching closer to 5 miles per kWh.

Re: 110 plug wont charge to 75 miles.

To be clear though, "shifting" to L (which simply engages a pre-set level of additional motor resistance beyond the normal "coasting" resistance of D) is entirely equivalent to pressing the brake pedal enough to achieve the same level of motor resistance. And both will result in the same amount of ...

Re: 110 plug wont charge to 75 miles.

I tried to be conservative and smoothly brake as well as coast to get the regeneration going. I was able to get better miles. After a while, WattsUps' suggestions above become second nature and you don't have to think about them. I remember someone suggesting that in order to improve gas mileage, y...

Re: FFE Electrical Use

I have only the electric bill from the same month last year and what I am seeing looks in line with 80% charging efficiency including pre-conditioning.

I'll bet that #2 and #3 are the culprits.

Re: PHEV + EV Household

One of my friends bought a Volt recently. They were originally apprehensive about the idea but it's working out great and they are thinking of getting a second one quite soon when the lease on their Acura runs out. I'm going to try and show them that they are using essentially zero gas miles even o...

Re: PHEV + EV Household

Focus Electric plus Fusion Energi here. Great combo. . . . We love them! Same here! My wife appreciates having the Energi handy for when she has a drive that pushes the limit of the Electric's range. She also appreciates not having to charge at work with the Electric, something that I don't mind do...

Re: Ford Fusion Energi

My wife and I decided not to purchase a Ford Focus Energi. However, I did manage to talk her into letting me buy a 2014 Ford Focus EV today. With the $6,000 rebate and future $7,500 Federal tax rebate, it was too good of a deal for me to pass up. Now, on to deciding which EVSE to buy, and contactin...

Re: Prenventing blocked charging stations

Reasonable should be what you normally do with your car. We have a very simple, fundamental disagreement here. I think that "reasonable" is not the ability to do what you normally did with a previous vehicle, but doing what your car is capable of doing and not trying to force it to perform beyond i...
