Re: First problem with FFE after 8,000 miles

It sounds to me like the Battery Monitoring System could have gotten stuck in rebalancing mode where it applies a 100mA balancing charge to the battery. When my battery suffered a cell failure, 48 hours on the charger resulted in the good cells charging to a higher voltage than normal- in my case I ...

Re: FFE developing a "charge fault" problem

Over the past couple of weeks I've gotten up in the morning to an MFM range estimate that read 1/2 to 2/3's of what it should on 3 different occasions. Updating didn't change anything but when I went out to the car and started it, the GOM gave me a good number (and a recheck of the MFM showed a good...

Re: battery capacity is going down

17 kWh sounds like it is within measurement error of being fine (while being inconsistant with a 2 hour charge time). Although use of the tripmeter seems to be one of the more accurate methods of checking capacity, there does seem to be some measurement error introduced during regeneration. [ I've t...

Re: Regen KW Curve

On the ForScan monitoring tab there is a Save-log-data button. It will save whatever you had last monitored (start to stop). Most of the data is recorded at about 20ms, but I have recorded over an hours of data without problem. I save as CSV file and then dump into a spreadsheet for analysis.

Re: Interesting: "Value" charging uses more electricty

Sounds like the author's battery/battery management system has a problem. The normal vampire draw for the Focus is about 2.5 watts, not 70 watts. If the temperature is too hot or cold the TMS will cycle, but his graph doesn't show cycling; and you wouldn't want to avoid TMS conditioning by leaving i...

Re: Various public charging networks

Blink: (now owned by CarCharging) is big (and pretty much the only choice) in Tennessee. Cost: Back in Sept they changed their pricing structure from "per hour" to something more competitive: kWh in states which allow it and 4 cents/minute elsewhere. A few installations (I know of one in the Oak Ri...

Re: Number of battery cells finally discovered....

Just to clarify- my numbers were from a battery charged to "100%" on the MultiFunction Touchscreen display. H_BATT_CHAR is the PID which appears to correspond to the 0-23kWh capability and ranges roughly from 8%to 90%. BAT_CHA_DISPL (which seems to be the PID driving the MFT) was reading 100% at the...

Re: Need help on GO times...

Go Times work well (enough) for me on L1 also; but it takes time to see any effect. If checking with your hand, anything below skin temperature will feel cold. I did a check with a temperature sensor and seem to get about a 10 degree temperature rise out of the vent; over an hour of preconditioning ...

Re: Modifying Focus Electric Level 1 charger

kasra - The charger is under the car (approximately where the gas tank is on the ICE). The "convenience cord" is little more than a smart extension cord. The design philosophy is the put all the components that are common to multiple voltage input (voltage step-up, AC rectification and charging mana...
