Re: Thoughts on a Chevy Bolt

Bolt has real advantages (range, better seat height adjustment, turning radius, ...) but there are still aspects of the FFE I like better: it is quieter (Bolt added what sounds like a pump going most of the time), it gives me a few options missing in the Bolt (turn head lights on/off only when I wa...

Re: Ford BEV SUV

Well they have been talking about a 300 mile range'd BEV CUV for almost as long as the FFE has existed (with nothing to show for it, so I'm not holding my breath). The new Lincoln Aviator has an option level with a plug--so at least there is a PHEV in the works (its a new platform and rumors are tha...

Re: MyFord Mobile in Europe

jmueller065, Thanks for the answer. Yes, my car is from the USA. And how does the modem work? Need to insert a sim card into it? I have no idea: In the US cars it just (sort of) worked. Owner's really didn't have to do anything with it (other than occasionally reboot it--the Telematics Module--its ...

Re: MyFord Mobile in Europe

Is your car a former US car that was shipped over? If so it is likely that its cellular modem isn't compatible with Europe's systems and thus MFM probably won't work over there (that or there is no contract for service for the modem--in the US Ford contracted with AT&T for cellular service).

Re: Full charge calculation (West Canada)

I believe you go into the trip display and then hit the right arrow button on the left pads to get into the trip settings and turn on the enhanced trip meter. Its been a few years since I had an FFE. I would take it in on the off chance that you get a "free" larger battery. Its worth a shot.

Re: Charger kicks on when I open the door

So everyone's car does this? Sounds pretty lame. It's not like opening the door and the tiny little 12v light is drawing appreciable current. Yes everyone's car does this. Not just the tiny little 12V light, opening the door pretty much wakes up the car. Plug in an OBD2 reader and use Forescan to w...

Re: Charger kicks on when I open the door

Yes this is not an issue. It is the EVSE that kicks on NOT the charger (the charger is actually in the car). It will do this if you pre-condition the car or remote start it while its plugged in. Again this is NOT the charger. It is something you want: You want the car to draw its power from the wall...

Re: Questions about acceleration

This is my first time asking questions in this forum. Thanks in advance to whom read my post. I have a 2017 FFE and now it has 20K miles. Recently I noticed the acceleration seemed to be different from before. When I released the acceleration pedal, car kept moving fast for a short period (3-6s I g...

Re: Diesel Parking heater to replace electric heater.

If I did it I would want my mod to mimic whatever the FFE is expecting that PTC heater core to do. I'd disconnect the high-voltage cable and use the control wires to turn on/off my new "heater" and let all the FFE's electronics do what they were going to do--including running the coolant pump. I'd s...
