Re: Better 12V battery option?

So why not a deep cycle battery? Doesn't have to be Lithium based. Aren't those supposed to be able to go flat repeatedly? And I thought pulling fuse 3 stops the TCU from draining the battery? Also, didn't Ford release a firmware update to fix the TCU draining the battery problem? Considering the ne...

Re: New to me 2013 FFE

Using one of those vacuum coolant bleeders works pretty good to pull all of the air out of the cooling loops. Just gotta make sure the coolant does not get drawn up into the bleeder. If you use Forscan to control the coolant pump speeds and valve positions, keep in mind that arbitrarily setting the ...

Re: New to me 2013 FFE

Hey there Steve, Welcome to the club. I see you are jumping in with both feet to do diagnostics. If you haven't downloaded it yet, get the service manual from the link I posted a while back. Here: http://www.myfocuselectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4921&p=32331 Good move to pull fuse #3, (if I...

Re: humming noise

I dont know where you are located, but a good independent shop that specializes in hybrids might be better than the dealer. At least they would be knowledgeable of electric drivetrains.

Re: humming noise

I am guessing that is 165 kilometers range? A 2017, 2018 should get that range in mild weather. In slightly warmer weather, the range will increase, but any use of the A/C will quickly negate that. Cooler weather and use of the heater could bring the range down to 140. There are some basic means of ...

Re: Hello, should I return my car?

Congrats, and thanks for keeping it "in the family".
The 2017 and 2018 with the greater range and DC fast charging make a great car better.

Guess you will have to change your moniker, eh? (onlybimmers)

Re: humming noise

Yes, if just about anything goes wrong with the FFE, there is a DTC code created. However, you are not able to retrieve these codes with a standard OBDII reader, you need an interface that can handle High Speed and Medium Speed CAN signals. You will also need a laptop with Forscan installed. I am qu...

Oh my dog! Only 30 miles? Yeah, something is wrong with that battery. Return it. Defective battery.

Re: Hello, should I return my car?

Hmm, if it was my car, I think I would return it as 50 miles is far too little range considering the battery pack. I can understand your concern. I owned a Fiat 500e before the FFE and it had an official range of 85 miles, but in summer and no A/C, I would get about 95 miles, though the gauge would ...
