Re: HVAC - lower the power drain or disable the heater ?

Just back in the car after hitting the gym and when I turned on the car, it was pulling 5kw+ again. So it's not permanent, only for that drive cycle before turning the car off and back on. That's unfortunate.

Re: HVAC - lower the power drain or disable the heater ?

So back on topic and reviving an old topic, I confirmed this morning that using the FORscan commands on a computer will force the heater to 0 even after disconnecting. I can now set my HVAC to 70°F and it doesn't burn the 5kw that it usually does when I turn it on in the mornings. It's 67 outside an...

Re: generator as range extender

If I was to do this, I would tie the extra battery charger directly into the battery (with a fuse inline) and it would regulate the voltage to max voltage and not any over that. And they can be paralleled so I could run 18kw with 6 of them powered from a bigger generator and maybe a small motorcycle...

Re: generator as range extender

You guys obviously missed that I have my own charger that I'll be installing on the battery. It is a universal lithium cv/cc 3kw charger that doesn't require ground and it's stackable so I could do 6kw for another $750. Regen won't hurt it because it's all set to a max voltage, it will just drop the...

Re: Effects of Rain on Energy Consumption

I'm not around my FFE but what is the instant power output on flat ground at 60mph? That should tell you how much more power it takes in rain. Compare wet to dry.

Re: Quick charge project

I'm planning on adding a generator for extended range since I'm in rural Kansas with no public charging access. I have everything I need including a TSM2500 lithium charger. From what I gather, max voltage is 351 correct? Here's the link. What settings do you suggest? http://www.thunderstruck-ev.com...

Re: generator as range extender

I think I'm going to try this. I have a 3kw custom charger that I got for another project and it's completely programmable. They are also stackable so I could get 6kw and upgrade the generator if I find 3kw is too little. I'm going to connect the charger in the rear and use an outdoor outlet next to...
