Re: LED's in Headlamps

Macs can run Windows..... If you own a copy of Windows. I'm not willing to buy an entire OS just to do this. Its probably the same price to buy an entire used laptop with Windows pre-installed. I believe Wine ( https://www.winehq.org/ ) is available for MacOS - it might be worth a try. On my Linux ...

Re: battery Degradation over 5 years?

Some more info would be useful. What was the ambient temperature like? What kind of driving (slow/urban; fast/hwy) was done during the 30 mile trip? Was the ~40 mile range estimate with climate control on or off? OEM tires? Off the top of my head, for a car that was probably being driven aggressivel...

Re: Diesel Parking heater to replace electric heater.

Just a crazy thought..... Maybe steal the heat storage block and coolant pump out of one of these http://www.steffes.com/electric-thermal-storage/room-units/ and connect it to the FFEs heater core. Feed the heating elements off of 120v grid electricity overnight. Run the coolant pump via the 12v wit...

Re: Tesla Adaptor

You didn't say whether the free chargers were DC "Superchargers" or AC "Destination chargers." I don't think there are any products that will convert Tesla DC to CCS. However, the Tesla to J1772 adapters should work fine for AC charging.

Re: EMF magnetic radiation

These meters are typically measuring AC emf, which in the FFE would be generated by the motor and AC inverter at the front end of the car. In any case, data concerning deleterious health effects of weak emf are equivocal at best. If it turns out that there are small increases in e.g. cancer risks, t...

Re: Tires

I purchased my 2014 FFE in Jun 2016 with ~17.5k miles on what looked like the original tires with reasonable remaining tread (didn't measure precisely and don't remember the numbers now, but two had significantly more wear - probably spent >10k miles in front). Rotated at ~22k. @~24k, sustained some...

Bumper valance

The front passenger side bumper valance on my 2014FFE came off. The part seems to still be relatively intact. I assume this can be popped back on somehow and fastened with push pins or the like without further disassembly of the front end? Any idea what size/type of fasteners to use and where to get...

Re: Cheap L2 chargers on ebay

Well, I finally got my L2 setup up and working. I ended up with the ebay knockoff. I had some ebay bucks so it ended up costing $150. I just installed the 240v outlet today. Around 15" of 10/3 from the 30 amp breaker to the 16-20 outlet in the weatherproof box that allows it to be closed when its p...

Re: Cheap L2 chargers on ebay

True, that could be a concern, especially if you can't even tell if the individual components are UL listed. Although eBay doesn't necessarily equal junk - you can find UL listed EVSEs on eBay. Something similar to the Duosida that is apparently UL listed: https://www.amazon.com/AmazingE-Portable-El...
