Re: New Recall - Differential Assembly

I wish they gave me more details so I could relay them. After replacing the differential and bearings, I believe it was the electric motor that Ford recommend they replace. The dealer said it came on a pallet and that these are basically a sealed part that they don't open. They were genuinely disple...

Re: How Is This Lease?

With options and destination: $31,670. Discounted to: $30,376. Subtract $11,750 Red Carpet Lease cash: $18,626 $1000 down, $304 a month seems high. Just building it on the Ford website I'm seeing $910 down, $256 month. There is an extra $1770 that seems to be unaccounted for. Maybe some other fees t...

Re: New Recall - Differential Assembly

Just a quick update from me. The replacement motor didn't solve the problem so Ford bought it back.

Re: Range Extender and Regenerative force improvement for AL

It looks like it is extending the range by offering full coasting in D instead of light regen. Does this work in the Focus?

Re: VW E-Golf lacks liquid cooling

Reading about the fake motor noise on an eGolf forum was why I passed on the Golf and went with the Focus. It is law that all new hybrids and EVs in the US have to make this noise below 19mph by September 1st, 2019. Half must to be in compliance one year before the deadline. So 2017-2018 might be th...

Re: Is there a way to automatically begin each trip in recir

I wish the heater had a dedicated button similar to the AC. I remember reading about a Leaf mod that prevents the heater from engaging unless the AC button was enabled.

Re: New Recall - Differential Assembly

Looks like they first gave you a bad differential unit (the debris is proof) or forget to put oil in it. The debris getting lodged inside the differential caused shock-loading (spiking torques) & subsequent damage to the upstream motor's driveshaft bearings and housings, causing the funny bike card...

Re: New Recall - Differential Assembly

Yes, the car was running great before the recall work was done: silent and quick, probably just like yours. Which is what makes me so curious how this recall work resulted in a wrecked differential and replacement motor. At this point, even if replacing the electric motor solves the noise, I'm not s...

Re: 1 Year In, thoughts on my FFE

Bet it makes a heck of a lot of noise at highway speed when left open. I have never noticed a noise so far. I almost wish it did. I leave it open way too much and then feel stupid when I get out of the car. Me as well. Driving with the charge port open is the EV equivalent of walking around unzipped.
